DeFuniak Springs, Fla. –– In keeping with Governor Ron Desantis’ announcement earlier today, all Florida Department of Health in Walton County (DOH-Walton) locations will be closed December 24 and 31. The closures are in addition to regular office closures on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This includes DOH-Walton’s COVID-19 testing and screening.

“2020 was a challenging year for all Floridians, particularly our state employees who
worked around the clock responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency,” said Governor DeSantis. “Closing state offices on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve will provide these employees with much-needed additional time off to spend with their loved ones. The First Lady and I extend our appreciation to state employees for their hard work and wish them and their families a happy holiday season.”

“Our epidemiology staff will be working to complete contact tracing. This staff works 365 days a year to help control all reportable diseases to protect public health. We are so appreciative of all they do for our community”, said Holly Holt, Administrator and Health Officer.  COVID-19 data is available daily at FloridaHealthCOVID19.gov. You can also find information on additional testing options at Walton.FloridaHealth.gov.
