DOH-Walton to add Saturday Morning clinic during January and February at the DeFuniak Springs facility

DeFuniak Springs, Fla – The Florida Department of Health-Walton will begin offering Saturday morning clinic for sick visits only during the months of January and February at the DeFuniak Springs facility; 362 Highway 83, DeFuniak Springs, FL  32433.  Appointment times for sick visits on Saturday are 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.

 

Regular primary care services are provided Monday through Friday at the DOH-Walton facilities in DeFuniak Springs, Santa Rosa Beach, Paxton, and Mossy Head. The Walton Community Health Center in DeFuniak Springs is a Federally Qualified Health Center.  The sites provide affordable healthcare for anyone.  We offer a medical home, with a range of onsite services, to adults and children, including pediatric dentistry, so patients can build a relationship with their personal provider. Services are convenient and affordable whether you are insured or not.

What types of services are provided?

The clinic provides long-term care for patients with problems like high blood pressure and diabetes. Urgent care is also provided. Urgent care is for patients needing immediate attention but not emergency care. Healthcare services include a physical examination, diagnosis and treatment, patient education, and referral or prescription drug assistance as needed. 

What kind of health related issues does the primary care clinic take care of?

Clinic providers are able to help patients with a wide range of sickness such as sore throats, coughs, colds, flu, rashes, aches and pains, stomach problems, and urinary infections.  The clinic also provides school-entry physicals, school sports physicals and well child examinations.

Does the clinic see children?

Yes.  Our team of doctors and nurses is trained to identify and treat common childhood illness. 

Are there any services that the clinic does not provide? 

The Clinic does not prescribe any narcotic medication. Some x-rays, orthopedic or psychiatric care, are not available on-site and patients will be referred to another provider if necessary. 

Does the clinic offer emergency services? 

No.  This is not an emergency care facility.  Our focus is on preventive care.  Our goal is to keep people out of the emergency room.

Are clinic services free?

No.  The Clinic is not a “free clinic”. We do offer the opportunity to pay for services on a sliding scale and we accept Medicare, Medicaid, and various insurances.  We use a sliding fee scale to determine fees for services.  A sliding fee scale helps to make our services more affordable.  Eligible clients will pay a reduced cost in relation to their income and family size.  Proof of income is required. 

Who is eligible for services? 

We are here to serve anyone needing primary care services.  

Do you have bilingual providers?

Si (yes)!  Many of our front office, nursing staff and providers speak Spanish.  We also use a translation service for patients requiring help in languages other than English or Spanish. 

Do I need to make an appointment to be seen?

Yes.  Patients should call for an appointment. There may be same day appointments available.  Hours for the four locations are slightly different.  The Walton Community Health Center in DeFuniak Springs provides services at times that assure accessibility and meet the needs of the population.  The DeFuniak Springs Facility is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.   Call for information on hours for the Santa Rosa Beach, Mossy Head and Paxton clinics.

Where is the clinic located?

Services are provided in the DeFuniak Springs Facility located at 362 Highway 83 in DeFuniak Springs or the Coastal Branch Facility located at 361 Green Way Trail in Santa Rosa Beach.  The Paxton Branch is located at 21505 US Highway 331 South in Paxton, and Mossy Head Branch is located 1483 County Highway 1087 in Mossy Head.
