Bay County - Staying up-to-date with vaccinations is the best way to make sure your child, as well as our communities and schools, are protected against communicable diseases. Children are recommended to get vaccines to protect them from 14 diseases that can be serious, even life-threatening.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County is open for immunizations:

Monday – 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Tuesday – 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Wednesday – 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Thursday – 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.

*The last Thursday of each month, we close at noon.

School immunizations are available all year long. Specific vaccines are required before entering kindergarten, and before 7th grade entry. We recommend coming in well before the start of the school year to have your child’s shot record reviewed and required vaccines given. A “Back to School” Shot Clinic will run from August 7 -17, from 8:00am-3:30pm to help children get ready to go back to school.

Most children qualify to receive their vaccines at no cost, up until their 19th birthday. Recommended vaccines offer protection from Hepatitis A, strains of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), and Meningitis.

Hepatitis A vaccine is a 2 dose series that can be started at 12 months old.

HPV vaccine can be started at 9 years old, is a 3 dose series.

Meningitis vaccine can be started at 11 years old, with a booster dose at 16 years old. According to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) “after a booster dose of meningitis vaccine, antibodies against meningitis are higher than after the first dose, and are expected to protect adolescents through the period of increased meningococcal disease risk in late adolescence”.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has information on which vaccines are needed for
