Alachua County - On Wednesday April 22, 2015, the School Board of Alachua County, SBAC Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) and the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County will be celebrating Every Kid Healthy Week. This event will be held from 7:00am to 7:45am at WW Irby Elementary located at 13505 NW 140th St. in the City of Alachua.

"Health and wellness of students has a direct impact on student performance" stated Dr. Owen Roberts, Superintendent of Alachua County Schools. "We are pleased to partner with the Alachua County Health Department in promoting healthy activities."

"The Alachua County Health Department values its relationship with the School Board of Alachua County and considers healthiest weight activities as a priority in ensuring students are exposed to healthy habits that will last a lifetime" stated Paul Myers, Administrator of the Alachua County Health Department.

The event is for the students and parents of WW Irby Elementary School and will include a morning walking program for participants followed by a healthy breakfast provided by FNS. FNS Farm to School program will be offering fresh fruit from local farmers for a taste testing with the participants.
