Panama City, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Bay County has conducted additional sampling of the following Healthy Beaches locations due to high levels of enteric bacteria: Panama City Beach Pier (SP 3), Rick Seltzer Park (SP 6) and Beach Drive (SP 10).

The advisory for Beach Drive (SP 10) is still in effect due to the bacteria levels still being elevated. The samples are analyzed for enteric bacteria that normally inhabit the intestinal tract of humans and animals, and may cause human disease, infections or rashes.  The presence of enteric bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, which may come from storm water runoff, pets and wildlife, and human sewage.

The advisories for the Panama City Beach Pier (SP 3) and Rick Seltzer Park (SP 6) locations have been rescinded.
